Lotus Engineering receives the Award for the Evora 414E Range Extender Hybrid

The Lotus Evora 414E Range Extender Hybrid was chosen by the Editors of the SAE’s Automotive Engineering International Magazine, for its design and engineering innovation, uniqueness, potential for “real-world” production application, and potential benefit for industry customers and end user.

California Air Resources Board (CARB) publishes results of Lotus Engineering’s vehicle mass reduction study on a crossover utility vehicle (CUV).

Results show a total vehicle mass reduction of 31% (528.3 kg or 1,162 lbs.) and a $239 (£150/€188) saving in overall vehicle cost. Body structure utilises advanced materials including high-strength steels, aluminium, magnesium and composites along with high tech joining and bonding techniques.

Ahead of schedule, Lotus’ new Evora 414E Range Extender Hybrid Electric Vehicle (REEV) has started its dynamic and durability testing at the Lotus HQ in Hethel, Norfolk.

1000 Nm (738 lbft) of Torque 414 PS (408 hp) 0-60 mph / 97 km/h in around 4 seconds Top speed 130 mph (209 km/h) Target emissions of just 55 g CO2 / km (NEDC)

Lotus Engineering, a company with over 20 years of EV and HEV experience, has been responsible for all aspects of the electric drivetrain integration for 102EX, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Experimental Electric.

This includes the largest battery pack fitted to a road car, together with an innovative 7 kW induction charging system. These components and the electric drivetrain have been integrated by Lotus Engineering into the existing Phantom electrical systems, giving an efficient electrical propulsion control strategy and retaining full vehicle functionality.

Lotus and HARMAN create next generation intelligent pedestrian warning system, integrating the advanced HALOsonic sound synthesis system with video technology.

This cutting-edge enhanced version of the HALOsonic safety system incorporates input from imaging sensors to enhance the quality of the sound synthesis system. HALOsonic has been developed specifically for electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles, and will have its first public demonstration on the Lotus Engineering cutaway hybrid Evora 414Evolution exhibit at the 81st International Motor Show in Geneva.
