LOTUS AT GOODWOOD 2021

The Lotus Emira made its dynamic public debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and was joined on the stand by the Evija all-electric hypercar, an Elise Sport 240 Final Edition and a track bike developed in part by Lotus Engineering for British Cycling.

This year’s Festival celebrated the peerless sporting and technical achievements of Lotus, and this was the theme of the Festival’s ‘Central Feature’ – the dramatic art installation which is always created directly in front of Goodwood House. Called the Lotus ‘Aeroad’ and viewed digitally via a smartphone app, the sculpture used the latest augmented reality technology to allow users to watch four iconic Lotus cars speed through the air on a virtual racetrack.

In 2020 Evija joined the Lotus line up at Goodwood SpeedWeek. The Lotus Evija continues a rich, 70-year tradition of iconic, game-changing road and racing cars.

Lotus chose the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2019 to reveal the name of its new all-electric hypercar – the Lotus Evija.

As well as a “sneak preview” of Evija, the Lotus stand also housed the current Lotus range of Elise, Exige and Evora, the Evora GT4 Concept race car and a very special Lotus Type 25 F1 car – the almost mythical 25/R6 – the actual car in which Jim Clark set the best ever time of 1:20.4 for a lap of the Goodwood circuit in 1965.

Proudly celebrating 70 years of innovation and a pure driving experience that’s second to none, Lotus marked the anniversary of its inception with a birthday cake and Champagne reception with the Duke of Richmond and Gordon at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Joining His Grace was Group Lotus’ recently appointed chief executive officer, Mr. Feng Qingfeng, and Clive Chapman, son of Lotus founder Colin Chapman and Director of Classic Team Lotus.
