Lotus has been working closely with shareholders, our broad stakeholder group and local and national government as part of our “Protect and Preserve” strategy during the Coronavirus Pandemic.  A key part of this was to support the national effort with the manufacture and distribution of PPE equipment.

Working in partnership with the Norwich School, Lotus colleagues volunteered their time during the national lock down in the UK.  More than 4500 protective Perspex visor covers where  delivered  to the school, ready to assemble and subsequently distributed to local care networks.

In addition, despite a national shortage in materials, Lotus was able to secure further PPE fabrics which were used to  manufacture over one thousand surgical gowns, scrub hats and  laundry bags  for the Norfolk County Council PPE distribution depot . Volunteers from Lotus staff, their families and members of the local community provided their sewing skills to produce these much needed PPE items.

Lotus Production Manager Chris Darnell, said of the project “it was a concerted team effort and it was great to be involved.  We’re very proud and thank everyone for their help and enthusiasm to volunteer and be involved.”

Through Lotus, the Li Shufu Foundation (Mr. Li Shufu is chairman of our major shareholder, Geely) has so far donated 50,000 facemasks to the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and a further 100,000 facemasks being donated to Norfolk based community health workers and GP surgeries.

Lotus would like to thank everyone involved in manufacturing and distributing these materials, from our shareholders to colleagues onsite and the wider sewing community that supported the programme.
